TREKKING 4 SOCIAL MOBILITY
Our very own Trustee, Andrien Meyers, is taking on a huge feat in the effort to raise beneficial funds for three causes close to his heart. Not only will he be raising funds for ACE, but he will also be fundraising for Catalyst Education Programme and Anglos United Community Club. Andrien has been such an incredible addition to the ACE Board and we are extremely grateful that he has chosen ACE as one of his chosen charities.
Below is a statement from Andrien himself with some information about the task that he will be undertaking:
Late last year a report from The Institute for Fiscal Studies showed that UK social mobility is at its worst in over 50 years. It found stark disparities in earnings based on geography and ethnicity.
Having moved to the UK in 2001 I have had first hand experience of these problems. Now in a position and having a platform for change, I have embarked on a journey to help solve some of these problems.
I am currently involved with three third sector organisations (details below) - Catalyst Education Programme, Afro Caribbean Cricket and Anglos United Community Club. In their own way, all three organisations predominantly focus on social mobility and helping tackle some of the challenges.
However running these organisations with limited resources is a massive hurdle. Hence why I am embarking on a five day trek to help raise funds to support all three organisations that I so dearly love.
The trek is to Machu Picchu and the Salkantay Pass in Peru. Over the five days our team of six will cover close to 90km and at its highest elevation will be at 16,000ft.
Our nation is facing a social mobility challenge, one which all three of our organisations are looking to solve. We need your help to make our efforts go further.
Your help is crucial to our efforts.
We’d love it if you could make a donation to help us achieve our mission.
Thank you in advance for your contribution. Your donation will go towards all three organisations.
Here are the ways you can make a donation:
Let's join together to support Andrien and together we can support 3 outstanding organisations!
No matter how small, each donation will make a difference. If you are unable to donate, a simple share could make all the difference.
Please help us in sharing this journey and supporting Andrien to help not just ACE but two other organisations too!
